(THE ADOPTION INFORMATION DISCLOSURE ACT)

PASSED INTO LAW WITH A VETO

     Beginning in September 2008, adopted adults
    and birth parents will be able to submit disclosure vetoes. Individuals who choose
    to submit a disclosure veto may also provide information about family and/or medical
    history that would be shared with the other party.

    In June 2009, adopted adults 18 years of age or older will be able to apply for
    a copy of their original birth registrations and adoption orders. Birth parents
    will be able to apply for information from the original and substituted birth
    registrations and adoption orders, once their birth child is 19 years of age
    or older.
